ABSTRACT: After 20 years of processing, on July 15th, 2020, the new legal framework for basic sanitation in Brazil was sanctioned. Much has already been discussed in the scientific and political sphere on the norms and whether it will really combat one of the national histor- ical problems: environmental racism. This article aims to address the issue of environmental racism within the context of the new standard, as well as whether through it will be implemented the UN SDG No. 06, which deals with access to basic sanitation. To this end, a bibli- ographical research was carried out, based on scientific articles and legislation in addition to official data in order to verify whether the 2030 Agenda will be effectively implemented in this context. In the end, it is possible to see that the path is arduous and that behavioral and educational changes need to be taken, in addition to a social collection with the Federal Public. INTRODUÇÃO Passados 20 anos de tramitação no Congresso Nacional, no dia 15 de julho de 2020, foi sancionado o novo marco legal de saneamento básico do Brasil. Contendo doze vetos consideráveis, a Lei n° 14.026/2020 1 provocou diversas reações no contexto político e social. Para que a temática seja enfrentada, é necessário que alguns pontos sejam abordados. O primeiro aspecto diz respeito ao poder regulatório de- finido pela Carta de 1988. De acordo com o artigo 30 2 , trata-se de compe- tência municipal gerir sobre assuntos de interesse local.
